Description
The purpose of this project is to provide the Province of Prince Edward Island Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal with a flood risk assessment based on impacts of climate change, to identify vulnerable infrastructure and to recommend adaptation measures for the Hillsborough River Drainage Basin. With the exception of the CIty of Charlottetown and the Town of Stratford, the Hillsborough River Drainage Basin - at the 350 square kilometres, the largest watershed on the island - is a predominantly rural area. This project will provide provincial officials with information on how to conduct long-term adaptation planning and make the necessary changes to rural plans and infrastructure program to address climate change adaptation in a rural environment. The scope of the work comprises five tasks as follows: physical survey; climatic analysis and heavy rainfall projections; flood risk mapping and modeling; infrastructure at risk assessment; and general governance assessment.
